As I mentioned the other day, I just bought an Exergen Temporal Thermometer.
I. love. it.
I was drawn to it because it’s the exact same thing my pediatrician’s office uses, so I know it’s reliable and accurate. It’s also super fast. I had grown so weary of sitting with Caedmon and trying to get him to be still for what seemed like an eternity every time I needed to take his temperature. Although, he was usually very cooperative, sometimes even asking me to take his “pem-puh.”
Honestly, there was a little bit of a learning curve with the Exergen. I had to thoroughly read the instructions and fully grasp the entire ambient room temperature thing and how that affects the readings, because I nearly freaked when I got it home and it was giving inaccurate readings. (It had been sitting in a cold vehicle and I brought it into a warm room and it needed time to adjust.) And I had to practice with learning when to push the button, and how to keep it flush yet not to leave a mark across the boy’s forehead. But it was worth it.
Like I said the other day, I do wish it was backlit. A reader recommended a Walgreen’s thermometer that is backlit (this one, I think), but I decided to keep what I already had.
And if you decide to purchase an Exergen thermometer, you can get a $5 rebate form here, valid until 12/2011!
That’s what works for me. For more Works-For-Me-Wednesday, head on over to We Are THAT Family.
Hi! I'm wandering over from We Are That Family. Just had to tell you I ADORE your header!
ReplyDeleteAs a pediatric home care nurse those temperal thermometers are my favorite! I can't tell you how many times I've gotten inaccurately low temps going the armpit route.
