The Newest Cousin

Totally forgot to mention that Cousin E arrived last Thursday.

See? Pregnancy Brain strikes again!

She definitely takes after big brother Q.

E was the same length as Honor (19 3/4 inches), but weighed 5 ounces more, at an even 7 pounds. She also has some dark hair, and we spent a little time debating whether or not she has the beginnings of some curls. I think so. We’ll find out soon enough, I suppose.

When I went to the hospital to meet E, I explained to Caedmon that I was going to the hospital to visit Aunt Curly and their new baby. He wanted to go, of course, but I told him I’d bring back pictures for him to see and he could meet her another time. Caedmon thought for a minute and then asked, “Are you bringing that baby home to live at our house?” Um, no.

When I got home and showed Caedmon the pictures of E, he asked about her being swaddled. I reminded him that Honor was wrapped up in blankets like that when she was in the hospital. He nodded and said, “Yes, but Honor’s blankets had foots on them. This one doesn’t.” And he’s right, of course. Our blanket was covered with footprints. E’s just had stripes. How the boy notices and remembers these things, I’ll never know.

One of E’s aunts made this awesome wreath to go on their hospital door. I. Love. It.

They are home and doing well. It’s so weird to think that Honor’s no longer the baby of the family. I hope she enjoyed her short stint as the youngest cousin. On the other hand, those 6 1/2 weeks head start might help her pull rank on E when they get a bit older. That’ll be fun to watch!

  1. What a precious little baby! I'm sure her and Honor will be the best of friends! And that's funny how Caedmon remembered the details of her blanket! He's a smart little one!
