Holey Sheets, Batman!

I think we are the only ones this could happen to. Stuff like this just doesn’t happen to other people. Normal people.

As we were laying in bed the other night, Husband said, “Does our sheet have a hole in it?” Why would our sheet have a hole in it? Who wears holes in sheets?

Apparently we do.

Because when we got up the next morning, Husband pulled back the covers and showed me this.

Yep. That’s a hole. A big one.

Granted, these sheets are old. But they’re our flannel sheets, so they’re only used for a few months each year. Still…who wears holes in sheets?

I’ve always told Husband he’s a “wallower” when he sleeps. He gets out of bed in the morning and his side of the bed looks like he fought a war over there, with the sheets all wrinkled, wadded, and gathered up. For the life of me, I still haven’t figured out how that happens. He doesn’t thrash about. He’s not a wild sleeper. But I still don’t get it. Sure, I move around, but my sheets pretty much stay in the same place. I could get up in the morning, give the covers a tug and have the bed made. I think that has something to do with the reason I didn’t sleep for about two months when we first got married. Not only was someone sleeping next to me, touching me while I was trying to sleep, for crying out loud, but he was a wallower.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being a wallower. Or a still sleeper. It seems that everyone has their own sleeping style. Caedmon…is all over the place. He doesn’t even start out in the same place most nights, sometimes sleeping at the foot of his bed, across the middle, or where you’re supposed to, at the head. I gave up a long time ago trying to get him to sleep “the right way”.

As long as we all manage to sleep, I don’t really care how it happens. Even if we do manage to wear holes in the sheets now and then.

  1. That made me laugh. I, for one, have worn holes in sheets. Or at least worn them so thin that when I went to put them on the bed - you know, stretching them over the corners - they ripped down the middle. Or pulling them to cover up and they seperate into two pieces! Crazy :-)

  3. My husband has worn holes in the sheets before! It was down by his feet & I think it was was because he tosses & turns so much at night! You are not alone. :]

  4. We put holes in our satin sheets. So we got new higher thread cotton sheets (I am not talking fancy high count-keep in mind we like to be comfortable but we are cheap) and haven't had any more problems.
