Baby #2 Highlights
How Far Along: 16 weeks (Need to catch up? Here’s last week.)
Size of Baby: 4 1/2 inches or about the size of an avocado (one of my favorite foods).
Caedmon took this photo. That’s his finger at the top, not some weird glow around my torso.
And then it was his turn. Oz hung around for pictures this time, too. Though I think he was a little upset that he wasn’t the center of attention.
Remember last week when Caedmon took a bite out of the apple? Yeah, he tried to take a bite of the avocado, too. It’s not the same. At all.
Big Brother Caedmon: Sunday evening while we were watching TV, he leaned over, lifted up my shirt and kissed my belly. I said, “What are you doing?” He responded, “Giving our baby a kiss.” Melt my heart, whydon’tcha?
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +3 pounds according to the doctor’s scale last week. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Maternity Clothes: Sometimes. I bought a new pair of maternity jeans yesterday and when Old Navy says “Full panel” they aren’t joking around. These babies literally come up almost to my armpits. Yes, it feels weird. But it’s not uncomfortable, which I find strange.
Gender: We don’t know yet. Appointment is scheduled, though! Can’t wait!
Movement: Yes, but still kind of subtle.
Sleep: I’m sleeping pretty well these days, though I usually have to get up at least once to go pee. (TMI? Then why in the world are you reading this to begin with?)
Symptoms: Crazy dreams. I’ve had some round ligament pain, too. Nothing unusual, I suppose. And my hip is bugging me, but that’s nothing new and will probably get worse. I’m enjoying the fact that it’s not hindering my sleep right now.
What I Miss: Nothing except a real Coke here and there. I still haven’t had one since Dr. P said an occasional one would be fine. I’m waiting for one of those Serenity Now moments so I can really cherish it.
Cravings: Sadly, the pomegranate I bought last week was bad in the middle. I was not a happy camper. Therefore, I did not purchase one this week out of spite. Yes, I said spite.
However.
My darling little brother, NLB, has been in the general vicinity of a Cheesecake Factory for a few days and I texted him the other day and asked him if he could maybe, perhaps, possibly humor his pregnant sister (me) and bring something from there when he came home. He said he would try. It was enough to nearly make this hormonal pregnant girl cry. Even though he wasn’t able to bring anything, just knowing he was willing to indulge me is enough. It’s the thought that counts, really. Although some Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake would’ve been really good, too.
Best Moment This Past Week: Caedmon giving his baby brother or sister a kiss!
What I Am Looking Forward To: The ultrasound appointment coming up in three short weeks! It seems like it’s forever away, but I know it will be here before we know it. Also, I’m going to start getting Christmas stuff out soon. It always gives me the warm fuzzies.
