Works-For-Me-Wednesday: Laundry Tip

Yeah, I’m finally back on the WFMW kick. For a few weeks I had pretty much nothing to say. But I didn’t let that stop me from posting all sorts of words strung together to make sentences and a bunch of pictures that you may or may not have had any interest in.

But I’m back. The cobwebs have cleared (somewhat) and the words seem to be flowing again. So let’s get on with it, shall we?

I looked back in my archives, because I couldn’t believe I hadn’t shared this tip already. But I didn’t find it, so if it’s a repeat, you’ll have to either forgive me or get over it. Or both.

I used to have the hardest time keeping up with Caedmon’s socks in the laundry. Especially when he wore those teeny tiny little socks. I’d find them wadded up in the bottom of a pair of footie pajamas or something. So I had a stroke of genius (?) one day and threw his socks into a laundry sweater bag. No more lost socks.

When I started using bibs for him, I would get aggravated that the Velcro would end up sticking to everything in the wash, even if I carefully latched it before throwing it in. So I started tossing those into a laundry sweater bag as well. It works great, because if they do stick to anything else, it’s just another bib or the bag and not Caedmon’s clothes or whatever else happens to be in the laundry at the time.

I have a “lingerie bag” that I don’t use nearly as much because it has a drawstring and my sweater bag has a zipper. It just seems that the drawstring ends up getting tangled or knotted in the wash, so I prefer the one with the zipper.

And I know this won’t work for everyone, but I still wash his clothes separately from ours, with the exception of an item here and there. I use all the same laundry products, so I really could incorporate them, but I really prefer to keep his clothes separate. For me it is easier to fold laundry when it’s separate. I’m sure it’s all in my head and there’s no truly justifiable reason for it.

But this is Works-For-Me-Wednesday, not This-Is-Logical-And-Justifiable-Wednesday. So there you have it.

  1. I didn't know there was a difference between the two bags. I have a zip bag but I use it for everything, oddly enough not sweaters. I'd like to think I inspired this WFMW post with my mis-hap last week. :-) I will be sure to use this tip for velcro on the next round of laundry.

  2. When you said something last week about the Velcro, I thought, "Surely I've put that on WFMW." So yes, you did inspire it! :) Thanks!
