This Week, I’m Actually Kinda Glad It’s Monday. Go Figure.

Remember when I invited you to blame Husband for a lack of fun topics and such last week? Well, go ahead and blame me for today’s complete blahness.

Is blahness a word? I don’t think it is. At least my spell check doesn’t think it is, as the red squiggly line won’t go away. But it will be a word for today, m’kay?

We had a nice week with Husband at home. I have totally gotten used to having another adult around the house all day. You know, someone who speaks in complete sentences (that you can understand), and another set of hands and eyes to help corral the boy and the dog. So I will definitely miss that now that he has gone back to work. And all the other sweet things about him too, of course.

However, I am glad to be getting back to our normal routine, whatever that actually is. We tried to keep the schedule as intact as possible this past week, but things just get skewed a bit and other things don’t happen at all. Like vacuuming. And dusting. And folding laundry. You know, things that make the world go ‘round. Or at least keep me from losing my mind. And believe it or not, that goes a long way toward world peace.

I think Caedmon was feeling the weirdness, too. By Thursday afternoon, I think he’d pretty much had it with all the different. He suddenly wanted nothing to do with Husband. He got over it…the next morning. And we basically repeated that same scenario every afternoon the rest of the week/weekend. A boy’s just used to having some quiet cartoon time after his nap, and that didn’t seem to happen much last week.

So, by last night, this is what the living room looked like.DSC07209A total wreck, complete with streakin’ toddler. Husband did most of the clean-up, and managed to wrestle the boy into his PJ’s.

And silly me, I’d toyed with the idea of starting to wean Caedmon off his paci this week. Clearly I was insane when that thought popped into my head. He’s so exhausted and just not himself that I think I need to wait a bit. We have another laser treatment the week before Christmas, and I’m just not sure it’s a good idea to make that trip so soon without the “bah.”

I know, I keep putting it off. The boy will be 8 before I make him give it up at this rate. Maybe.

On the upside, he may have himself potty trained before he gives up the paci. He’s asking to go to the potty a couple of times each day, and bless his heart, he’s determined to make something happen when he does.

So we’ll see.

Wow, for a boring post, it sure is long and wordy. Sorry, ya’ll. If you’re still here, I applaud you. Clearly I don’t adhere to the “so many words per post” rules, even when I have nothing to say. You’re welcome.

  1. Okay first off, I LOVE that you are brave enough to post a photo of your "dirty" house for all the world to see...you know we Mom's can only keep it "perfect" for so long before the husbands and kids outdo us! And second of all...I have a confession to make...if C does make it to potty training before the Bah goes away he will not be the first little boy in the world to do this...every week I say "This is the week for the "pa" to GO AWAY"...and then we get to the end of the week and it hasn't happened yet. But SHHHHHHH don't tell anyone! Ha! When you figure out how to conjure up some super human strength for us to endure that battle let me know! I'm just not ready to give up that many sleepless nights in a row yet! :)

  3. We had our first paci dilema this week.
I have pacis that I had planned on using for Q... but at the hospital they gave him one in the nursery at the hospital. It is different. And he loves it. And we only have one.
The other night (or was it morning?) it got lost. So one full day with a newborn is fine without a paci... until fussy time. Then it's not fine anymore.
    We found the paci.
