It's All About The Chi

My hair dryer crapped out on me the other day. Right in the middle of drying my hair, of course. They never quit when you're about finished. And we were getting ready for people to come over. So it wasn't like I could just have crazy hair and not care. No, of course not.

Well, I could've, but I wouldn't subject other people to that.

So I ended up letting it finish air-drying (not something that's often advisable for me), and did my best to calm the crazy with my flat iron.

And that was when I was wishing for not only a new hair dryer, but a new flat iron.

During Ice Storm 2009, when we packed up to head to Mom & Dad's, I didn't pack everything. We were in a hurry, we weren't planning on being gone a long time, and we could always go back for more stuff (which we did). But I also knew that between Mom, Fidget, and Squirt, I could pretty much borrow just about anything I needed.

After I took a shower (the first in a couple of days...because even when you have hot water, it's no fun to use it in the dark or the cold), I used somebody's hair dryer. And then I found Squirt and asked to use her flat iron.

It. changed. my. life.

She warned me. Squirt asked me if I'd ever used a Chi before. I told her no, I'd never spent that much money on a thing to do my hair with. But now...now I'm really tempted.

As Julee can tell you, I have a lot of hair. It's crazy. And getting it to do what I want it to is not always easy. So anything that makes the process a bit easier, I'm all about.

As long as it's cheap and easy. Well, a Chi flat iron is easy. It's not cheap.

I told Squirt she might ought to hide that cute little camo Chi so it didn't accidentally get packed in my bag. Apparently she took me seriously, because I made it home without a Chi.

And now, having just replaced my hair dryer with whatever brand was approximately $14.97 from Wal-Mart, I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't drop a little more cash on the styling equipment.

Either that, or cut my hair short again. I'm not sure which is the better option. Pin It

  1. Obviously you inherited your "cheap" for hair care from your mother. I must say I was appalled when the child spent that much on a Chi...but it was her own money. I did resort to using it once...and can never do it again...because it was amazing!

  2. I just used my little sis's chi all week and I'm feeling the same way. It is amazing. She gave me a tip for getting it about half price. Send me an email or facebook and I'll let you in on it.

  3. Hey Melissa,

Chi's may be expensive in the beginning, but the job they do is well worth it. I think one of the best parts is the lifetime warranty - if it craps out, you send it back to Chi with a $30 check and they send you a brand spankin' new one. I have only purchased one (when I was 15) and had it replaced three times. That's almost ten years...and ten years of good hair!

    See ya Sunday,
    Allison
