Works-For-Me-Wednesday: Clean Outfits

So I've had a bit of trouble lately keeping my little commando crawler clean.

Dragging your belly around on the carpet and tile at our house seems to be an excellent way to attract lots of dirt and dog hair. When we're going to be home all day, I don't really mind if he gets dirty. But when we are planning on going somewhere in the afternoon, I would like for him to be somewhat clean. At least not nasty. And I don't want to change his clothes before we leave.

He seems to get especially dirty since most of his cool graphic onesies are white. Love the white for the ease of stain removal (hello bleach!), but hate it for the dirt it attracts after about 8.3 seconds of crawling.

So here's what I've started doing. I'll get him dressed in the morning, usually in a onesie and a pair of shorts. The shorts are usually khaki or navy and don't show dirt too badly. So I'll just put an extra t-shirt on over his clothes.

As he crawls around, he's getting all that good dirt wiped up with his outer t-shirt. And right before we get ready to leave, I strip off the extra t-shirt and have a clean (or somewhat clean) outfit to wear in public. And that t-shirt I stripped off can be used again to pick up more dirt tomorrow so it's not like I'm having to do a lot of extra laundry.

It works for me. Head on over to Rocks In My Dryer for more Works-For-Me-Wednesday! Pin It

  1. Layers ... love it! I have a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old scooter (non-crawler, she scoots on her bum = dirty bum!).

Surprisingly, I do tend to have cleaner floors as they are tile or hard wood.

  2. This would work good when going out to eat, then running errands, too, huh?

  3. And he cleans your floors for free.

I got my snack trap at Babies R Us. I've heard they also have them at Burlington Coat Factory. I updated my blog with the correct link (and spelling) for the snack traps. Thanks for the comment!

  4. I'm about to have a crawler in a few months, so this is a timely tip!

    Good idea! :)
