Curly's Hitched

Well my friends, Curly got hitched yesterday in the lovely land of pineapples. She and Deputy Guy flew to Hawaii and were married yesterday. Curly called later and instructed Mom to call Husband and me to tell us they were “Maui-ed.” Ha. Ha.

I really don’t know what to think of this whole destination wedding phenomenon. I know people do it all the time…whether they plan it in advance or not. It’s just that I don’t think anyone I’ve ever known has done it before. Leave it to Curly to make her own path!

There’s something to be said for standing barefoot on the beach to get married, and then not having to smile for so long at people/for pictures that your face hurts. Personally, I enjoyed our wedding and would only tweak minor things if I could go back and do it again (i.e. I would convince Husband to have a chocolate groom’s cake and I would search the entire world to find little glass bottles of milk to go with it).

I’m sure Curly and Deputy Guy are enjoying themselves and are happy with their destination decision. I know the Parental Units are pleased with the low-stress, less expensive option of the destination wedding. As I recall, Dad tried to talk me into something similar…except that I think his suggestion involved a Justice of the Peace and blue jeans.

To each his own, right? Pin It

  1. I agree - you had a very nice church wedding. But, as I remember you set your own path with your wedding. Pictures BEFORE The reception. Not many folks were doing that...and NO ONE around here was having Bride and Groom pictures prior to the reception! And you were the absolute QUEEN of a nice church wedding on a shoe-string budget!

Weddings really don't mean that much in the long run...it's how the wedded live their lives together! And you and Husband seem to be doing a fine job of that, too!

It is true that a nice church wedding is something that nothing can compare to. But there is something to be said for eloping... NO STRESS!!!! I love church weddings, but I just didn't have the patience to deal with all to the formalities and junk. On that lovely day, we showed up, we got hitched, took pictures (just the 2 of us, not 800 people), then we left!
