Baby Dedication

I could talk a lot about our great weekend…if my foggy brain could remember all of it. The post-baby hormones and messed up sleep are killing me these days.

However.

A big part of our weekend was Baby Dedication at church. Our church does Baby Dedication twice a year – on Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving weekend. So I got a double-whammy yesterday. Mother’s Day and dedicating Honor.

I will go ahead and say that I am proud of myself for getting the three of us ready and at church by 8:30am. (Husband has to go in early, so we go separately.)

I did take the camera, but in order to take pictures, you have to, you know, take the camera out and turn it on, and use it. Which didn’t happen. The pictures below are courtesy of Mom and her ability to save the day…it’s what Moms do.

Here we are, standing in line and ready to go. This was my first time to coordinate outfits for the four of us, and it was a challenge. Especially since I have about three things that fit right now.

This is for my bow-happy people. Honor wore a bow. For a while.  But I will say this…the whole dress and bow thing may be the death of me.

Caedmon went with us to dedicate Honor.

I’m thankful Mom was there to take pictures for us. And have her picture taken with us.

Honor tied with a little boy for being the youngest baby at church. Her first time to church and she’s already competing with a boy. Those two will probably be a mess in the nursery together.

In case you aren’t familiar with Baby Dedication, at our church it’s a formal way for parents to publicly acknowledge that our children are a gift from God, and in fact, belong to Him. We acknowledge that it’s our job as parents to raise our children to love and honor the Lord. The verse we use is below. It’s a great reminder of our priorities, whether we have kids or not. (It’s still weird to say “kids” because that means I have more than one!)

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-7

The rest of our day was pretty low-key. Lunch at home, Nana came over to hang out, I took a nap, and Husband got us Sonic for dinner. And then The Celebrity Apprentice.

Today we get to start another busy week as I continue to try to figure out how to get more done with the same amount of hands. It’s definitely a learning process. And I’m loving it.
