Baby #2: 14 Weeks

Baby #2 Highlights

How Far Along: 14 weeks (Need to catch up? Here’s last week.) Start of the 2nd trimester. Woot!

Size of Baby: About 3 1/2 inches long or about the size of a lemon. Since Walmart was out of lemons (how can you be out of lemons?) on Monday, Mom picked one up for us yesterday when she went to the store.

And Caedmon promptly tried to eat it. Whole.

Apparently, like his Momma, he likes the lemons.

Big Brother Caedmon:  Has been asking lately if he has a baby in his belly.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m still claiming +2 pounds from my last doctor’s visit, but I think it’s more like +3 now.

Maternity Clothes: Sometimes. I was reminded the other day why I loved my Gap maternity t-shirts so much last time. They look and feel like real clothes, not maternity clothes. That might not make sense if you’ve never been pregnant, but there’s a big difference.

Gender: We don’t know yet.

Movement: Maybe. I think I felt the baby move early one morning, but nothing since then.

Sleep: I’m sleeping pretty well these days.

Symptoms: Crazy dreams. Fatigue, though that’s getting better. And my right hip is constantly popping in and out of where it’s supposed to be. That’s fun. Except when it’s not.

What I Miss: Nothing except a real Coke here and there.

Cravings: Strangely enough, fresh, raw veggies. As in salads & veggie sandwiches from Subway. I am the only person who would eat them at home and I don’t want to do all the work, so I get them other places. I know that sounds terrible, but it’s true. With Caedmon, I craved mostly junk food – gummy bears, orange soda, etc. This time it’s been all over the place and the veggie thing is just plain weird to me. But don’t think I’m not still dreaming about that Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake. I’ve been thinking of a way to make a smaller version, and I may give it a shot soon. I don’t know how much longer I can think about it without doing something!

And as I mentioned the other day, if I am orange the next time you see me, you’ll know why. I can’t get enough pumpkin-y stuff right now. I don’t know that it has anything to do with pregnancy, though.

Best Moment This Past Week: The day that Caedmon got up, got himself fully dressed and came into my room before I’d even gotten out of bed. Made me feel like a complete loser, but I love that he’s so capable and independent.

What I Am Looking Forward To: My appointment next week and getting to hear the heartbeat again! Also, taking Caedmon to some Halloween festivities this weekend…and stealing some of his candy.
