It’s A Blog Party!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010

This is my first time to participate in the Ultimate Blog Party from 5 Minutes for Mom, and I’m excited to meet lots of people and have some fun!

I’m Superchikk, a Stay-at-Home-Mom who doesn’t always stay at home as much as I’d like. My husband is a minister, and we’ve been married 11 1/2 years. We have one son, Caedmon, who is 2 1/2, and a Boston Terrier, Oz.

Most of what I talk about here is just life. Life with a 2 year-old. Life as a Mom. Life as someone who gets every last nerve stepped on once in a while. Life as someone who has some spectacular opinions and thinks everyone should get the opportunity to read them. For more about me, you can go here.

I believe in being real. None of that “life’s a barrel of monkeys” junk, unless of course, it actually is and then you’ll hear all about it, down to the very last detail.

Oh, and just to be clear, I don’t use real names on my blog, except for Caedmon’s. (You can see everyone’s “secret identities” here.) As Truvy would say, there’s a story there. (I also reference a lot of movies and TV shows. My family speaks in movie quotes, so it just sort of comes natural.)

*Editetd to add* Caedmon was born with a Port Wine Stain birthmark on his face. If you'd like to learn more about those or know someone with one, I'd love to talk with you about it. You can read more about our journey here or at the "Our Birthmark Story" button the sidebar.

This is the latest photo I have of the three of us together. It was taken Easter Sunday morning in the broadcast studio where Husband works on Sunday mornings. So if it looks like we’re in a dark cave, it’s because we are.

(Also, my self-portrait aiming skills were not so hot that day.)

I dabble in photography a bit – mostly to save money for myself and my family. I would really love to have a DSLR camera, and hope to one day own one. But for now, I make do with my Sony Cybershot and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.

Here are a few recent shots of Caedmon at my sister Trump’s “farm”.

I enjoy spreading comment love to other blogs, and enjoy hearing from my readers. You can subscribe in a reader or via email if you’d like, or find me on Twitter @Superchikk. Come again sometime and we’ll have some fun!

There are so many prizes to be won just for participating in the Blog Party. Some I would love to win are: US19, US23, US31, US32, US37, US39, and US49. They are all things I could use for myself or my son. There are so many to chose from, I couldn’t even go through the entire list. But anything that I could use to entertain my boy, contribute to my family, or help me relax would be welcomed.

  7. No kidding that boys are "different" - lol. After one of their antics I often look at my husband and say "I'm not one of YOU - I don't get it!" haha.

Your son is adorable :) I dabble in photography too... I totally forgot to add that in the about me part ;) lol.

Love that you speak in movie quotes. I would too, if I could only remember them ;)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I just had to come by here and meet a grown-up weird, unsocialized homeschooler. ;-) You sure do have a handsome boy.

Stopping by from the party. Love your son's name. We gave our son a less-than-common name, but on my blog I just call him Buddy. Looking forward to reading your blog more and seeing more movie quotes. :)

  16. Hi Superchikk!

Stopping by from 5 Minutes For Mom's UBP2010, I'm fashionably late as per usual, but that's not stopping me!

You have a terrific blog. I love that you have picked such a unique name for your son. My daughter is called Tomika, it's Japanese and means People Child. It suits her perfectly.

Thank you, I've really enjoyed my visit.

I am now your newest follower. Come and visit me at Brea's Befuddled Brain and if you like what you see, help me achieve my goal of reaching 100 followers by my birthday on 2nd May. If I make it, I'm doing a give-away to celebrate!

I hope to see you soon!

  18. Hopping over from the UBP! Nice to "meet" you! My husband is also a pastor, so you and I are both "married to the ministry," lol! (As Lisa from "A Preacher's Wife" blog says.)

I have never used my children's name on my blog either, although they are much older than your son.

That was a great picture of you all, and the ones of your son were darling, he looks like he was having fun and I loved the puppy! Have a great weekend!
