Puppy Fever

I've come to a conclusion.

Shocking, isn't it?

I know you've heard all the "two kinds of people in the world" comparisons. Football/baseball. Cat/dog. Those who can read binary/can't.

But in all of that, my conclusion is thus: Once you discover you are a dog person, you must have a dog in your life.

There has been a decided vacancy in our home since Argus left for North Dakota. I have been much less stressed knowing that C was not in immediate danger of a dog bite, but we've missed Argus and missed having a dog.

So we planned on getting a dog in the spring. But it seems that someone in our home is a bit impatient. So after finally agreeing on a breed, finding a breeder and choosing a puppy, we will be bringing home a new member of the family in about a week and a half.

We decided on a Boston Terrier. We chose a puppy last week from a local breeder. And here he is. Cutie, isn't he?

And when C pinched his little foot the other day, he didn't bat an eyelash. That's a good thing, folks.

Now we're on to the task of picking a name for the little guy. It's tough to finalize a name when you don't have the dog yet, but we're trying to narrow it down. And of course, we can't name him something "normal", so it's been a challenge.

Here's what we've got so far:
Serling - after Rod Serling, creator of the Twilight Zone series and Planet of The Apes.
Crichton - after Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park and many other modern-day classics and creator of TV series such as ER.
Puddy - as in David Puddy from Seinfeld.
Dozer - we're hoping he's lazy and built like a 'dozer.
Geek - does this one even need an explanation?

I'd love to hear what you think about the names. After all, you're going to be hearing about this guy, so you might as well like the name.

And if you have any suggestions, I'm definitely open to hearing them. Pin It

  1. Puddy or Dozer will be easier for C to handle...He might have a cuter "barn" name though if you call him one of the others - and C can't pronounce it clearly :-)

  3. Of course, I vote Crichton. And those dogs are so precious. A good friend of mine had one, and I absolutely loved that little dog.

  4. I'm gonna have to go with Crichton. Alex and I are serious fans of his books/movies. Good luck with the name picking!

  7. I'm loving Puddy... that one's growing on me in a hurry. If you don't name him that, I'm totally stealing it for the next dog in our family. You know, we already have Kramer, so Puddy would go along quite nicely.

I like Puddy, it's a cute name. One that will sound like C helped name the dog. But I have to say that I also really like Chrichton, and it is much more like what you and Husband would name a dog. Plus in 10 yrs will C still think that Puddy is a good name or will he think it's a baby name?

    I vote Puddy... or Cryptonomicon

  10. I actually suggested Krypton, after Superboy's dog. Husband didn't go for it, as he feels Superman is a sub-par superhero when compared to his favorite, Captain America. Now, if HE had a dog...

I vote for Puddy, but I also like Budrow- very masculine, tough dog name. He's adorable!!
