Mommy Memories

There are so many things about being Mom that are not fun and not easy at all.

12:30am puking episodes come to mind.

Then, there are the precious moments in between all those not-so-fun times that make everything more than worth it.

I've had a lot of those moments lately. I don't know if it's the stage C is at or if I've just been paying better attention. Either way, it's been awesome.

These are memories I will probably never get in photos, much less video. But they are forever imprinted upon my heart.

And they will stay there forever. Which is good, because most of these things will be very uncool in a galaxy not so long from now and not so far away.

Recently, C has discovered my face. Not just trying to pick my nose or poke me in the eye. But my actual, whole face. While I'm rocking him before bed at night, he will reach up with his little hand and gently pat my cheek.

My heart melts.

When I ask him for a kiss now, he slyly turns his cheek so as to give me an ample target and grins a toothy, slobbery grin at the "smack!" sound it makes.

It gives me the warm fuzzies.

When I ask if he wants to do something that sounds like fun, he says, "Da!" (translation: Yeah!) and runs in the direction of whatever it is we're going to do.

It makes me happy to make him happy.

When he's tired or just wants to snuggle, he leads me into his room and pats the seat of the rocker.

My little snuggle bug, so sweet!

And when I ask him if he wants to help me with the laundry, his entire face lights up and he heads for the dryer.

Because what doesn't warm a Momma's heart like a boy who wants to help fold clothes? Pin It
