Holiday Download

I realize it's been a while since I posted, and quite frankly it's probably a good thing for the readers. We've been busy and I've been lazy - really that's what it comes down to. With moving to a new job at the office (and preparing for year-end) wrapped up in all the Christmas holiday shenanigans, it's been a little crazy.

We had a great visit with Husband's family in Texas prior to the official Christmas holiday. It was short, but we got to eat some great food and have fun with the family. Our Christmas was spent quietly at home, and I must say it was nice. And of course our Christmas celebration with my family was always interesting with phrases like, "Money can't buy knives!" being thrown around. (5,000 bonus points to anyone outside my family who knows what movie that quote is from.) Heck, the old "Arizona Our Way" (home video of our family vacation to Arizona/Grand Canyon in 1995) VHS tape even came out at the family Christmas - something I wish would disappear into a black hole somewhere. And it still might....

We were completely boring and dull for New Year's - we went to bed. And really, that's the way we prefer to spend the dawn of a new year - sleeping. Sad, I know.

But now it's getting to be that time of year where I must rearrange the files and prepare for getting the taxes done. Ugh. I'm not looking forward to that. But once it's done, it's done for another year. And today Mom reminded me to assess our personal property taxes for the year, and for that I say "thanks" because that's so stinking easy to forget. Yes, our state's tax system is bizarre and dare I say even stupid. But when you live here, you have to abide by the rules.

Hopefully it won't be quite so long between posts - but no promises, at least until the taxes are done! Pin It

  3. The Arizona My Way video better not go missing or you are in BIG trouble Missy.
Your best bet is that technology will run off and leave the VHS tape in the dust and we won't have any way to play that piece of family history.
Surely you responded to the person who didn't know the movie for "Money can't buy knives." I feel great compassion for that person, because I am the person at the family dinner table who NEVER knows the movies the quotes come from! Unless of course, it is like this one, and I have finally learned the source! Repetition helps me a LOT!

  4. Yes, I responded directly to the previous question about the quote.

There are probably few people outside of our family who could name the movie where "Money can't buy knives" came from. For the rest of you... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108258/
