The Kiddies Are Back In School

It's official...Christmas break is over and the kids are back in school. Everyone's back to the grind and reality has set in. The holiday warm fuzzies have worn off and the real world beckons menacingly. It's like cold water in the ear when you're asleep - getting back to life after the long holiday season. Everywhere you went, things were so festive, people were happy, and you had an awesome turkey dinner to look forward to, even if you had to put up with your relatives in order to get it. Now it's back to the regular, every day, plain ol' stuff. And the next holiday is months away.

The holiday season spoils us. Having Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's so close together is not quite fair. I think we should spread things out a bit so as not to bunch all the good holidays up at once. I mean, let's face it, unless you work for a school, bank, or government agency, your next holiday is about...Memorial Day. That's almost six months away. Too long between holidays, if you ask me.

I think all of the holidays should be redistributed so that we have at least one a month. That's right. One holiday a month - meaning at least one free day off work and a good reason to eat dessert. Let's face it - we all know somebody who makes their own holiday every month by calling in sick. I'm just trying to make it "legal" and spread the love around a bit.

  1. Mean 'ol mom here...
No holidays around here. Just ask Curly, I wouldn't even let her sleep in on her birthday! Even this year, as a married woman living 25 miles away I called at 8:30 a.m. and woke her up! So much for her January holiday!

We don't get out on any other holiday cept for x-mas. And we get about 2 months then! I think I'll stick with what we have now.... other wise I'll never get out of school.

And after mean-ol-Mom woke me up on MY HOLIDAY.... I went back to bed. It's nice having ONE birthday in all my life that I get to do whatever I want! Unfortunately, it will probably never happen again.
