Baby #2: 9 Weeks

I suppose I’ll jump on the bandwagon and do some pregnancy updates. I may or may not do them every week. We’ll see. I can just about promise I will not be taking a photo of myself and belly every week, either. There are very few belly pictures of when I was pregnant with Caedmon, and I really don’t find that to be an entirely bad thing.

So here goes.

Baby #2 Highlights

How Far Along: 9 weeks

Size of Baby: About the size of a grape

Big Brother Caedmon: Asks daily if he’s still going to be a big brother. When we say “yes”, he tells us there’s a baby in Momma’s belly and asks to see it. He also says, “I think it be a boy.” I remind him that we don’t get to choose and it might be a girl – we will find out later. He seems ok with that until the next time he announces that the baby is a boy.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Last time at the doctor, I’d lost 2 pounds. I don’t really check in between. It starts a downward spiral that I don’t care for. There’s really not much you can do about the majority of the weight you gain, so I prefer not to pay attention to it if I don’t have to.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I had to pull the Bella Band out this week. It was either that or muffin top over my jeans, which would not have been pretty. Or comfy. The belly really popped out in the past few days! I don’t think I showed this much with Caedmon until 15 weeks or so.

Gender: We don’t know (See Caedmon’s opinion above)

Movement: None yet

Sleep: I’m sleeping pretty well. Caedmon usually wakes me up 1-2 times/night to go potty. If he sleeps all night, I usually do too except for last night when my allergies were rearing their ugly head and I awoke to a drippy nose a few times throughout the night. Seriously, I’m so over ragweed.

Symptoms: Crazy dreams. Some random bouts of queasiness. Fatigue – sometimes. Some days, I’m totally fine. Most days, I rest a bit when Caedmon naps and that’s enough to get me through. Others, I can hardly keep my eyes open by 8:30am. Those are the days Caedmon watches way too many cartoons and drags out way too many toys.

What I Miss: Nothing except a real Coke here and there. Caffeine Free Coke is just not the same. I need to have a talk with the Coke people about that.

Cravings: Smoothies. I started craving smoothies after I went to the grocery store on Sunday, so I’ve been making do with what we have around the house. Probably by the time I go to the store again and can buy some good smoothie-making stuff, I won’t want them anymore. Also, FYI, blueberries are good in smoothies, but there are always one or two that escape the blender blades.

Best Moment This Past Week: Getting to tell Caedmon he is going to be a big brother and watching him process that over the last week. He’s still not sure what it all means, but he likes it.

What I Am Looking Forward To: Looking (and feeling) pregnant, not fat.

  2. I never felt BAD when I was pregnant... but after about 20 weeks I felt like a walrus... I didn't mind being pregnant, but I hated feeling like that.
