A Trippy Thing

I’m still sorting through photos. I know ya’ll don’t want to see all 8 million pictures of every rock, twig, and tree we saw on our trip. But it’s hard to convey the experience through pictures. And then trying to put together cohesive sentences to go with them has been beyond my mental capacity the past few days.

That’s why video is so much better.

We stopped in Astoria, Oregon one day. It’s a small town of about 10,000 people. But it’s famous because that’s where The Goonies was filmed, along with a few other movies like Kindergarten Cop and Free Willy.

Anyway, as we were exploring the metroplex of Astoria (we literally walked from one end of town to the other and back again), we found that the population of sea lions is actually pretty close to the population of people.

And maybe it was because we’d been on vacation too long, or perhaps we’d just been out in the sun too long. But we found these sea lions hysterical. We’d heard them from probably a mile away, and couldn’t imagine what the ruckus was all about. Apparently, it was nothing. It’s just what they do.

Check it out.

  1. I wonder what happens when people need to dock their boats there... do the sea lions move? Or do they pull in and wait for the sea lions to go fishing?
