For his first birthday, we got C a push/ride Tonka truck. After he learned to walk, the Tonka truck was pretty much cast aside for a while.
But recently C’s been riding it pretty frequently. And Husband was distressed that the front wheels don’t turn, causing a lot of forward-and-back driving. And a lot of running into the coffee table. Boring, apparently.
Our child is so deprived.
So on their weekly Saturday morning time together (in which I am buried under the covers), Husband and C went on a little shopping trip. And came home with this.
Yep, it’s a Radio Flyer Turtle. First of all, I didn’t know Radio Flyer made turtles. And secondly, a turtle? Really?
“Look Mom, I’m riding on one of the slowest land animals known to man! Woo hoo, this is fun!”
Thirdly, it was on clearance sale, so I suppose those first two things are forgiven.
I must say though, for a turtle, this thing moves. The four wheels move just fine on the carpet, but on the tile you’d better watch out or else he’ll just scoot his little shell out from under C’s little hiney.
He’s had a few crash and burns, but he gets right back on, although a little slower and a bit more cautious. For about 15 seconds.
One of his favorite features, however, is not anything to do with actually riding the thing. It’s that the shell/seat opens up and he can store things in there. I can’t tell you how many times this week I’ve found his sippy cup in there after turning the house upside down looking for it.
I guess I should start looking in the Turtle first.
I have to say, that is a really cute turtle! I'll have to keep it in mind when Owen get a little bit older!
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you how funny I think "I guess I should start looking in the turtle first" is... ha! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! Jonathan's little riding truck is still one of his favorite toys, and his knees practically hit his chin when he rides it now. Good investment!
ReplyDeleteHave you built a ramp in the backyard so you can have a flying turtle?
ReplyDeleteNo ramp yet. The driveway should do nicely, though. I might invest in a helmet and knee pads before I let him loose out there, though. That road rash would be pretty nasty.
