I picked up the nickname in high school. I think it originated one Wednesday night in the summer of my junior year playing sand pit volleyball with the guys. Somehow, it stuck.
Most girls don't like being referred to as a "chick." People, especially women, get too tied up in what they're called instead of who they really are. Stereotypical titles are just that - stereotypes. And we all know those are not indicative of who or what we really are. People think they're defined by a title or how people refer to them. Get over it. You are who you are - not what someone else makes you out to be. And eventually people will figure that out.
This Superchikk is much more than what the dictionary could define. I am a Christian, a wife, a daughter, a sister (to 6 siblings), a daughter/sister-in-law, an aunt, a friend, and a "dog mom." I am the wife of a man who has heeded God's call upon his life to be a minister, and I am very proud of him. But I am also a neat freak, a completely anal organizer, a perpetual bargain hunter, a musician, a wannabe flower gardener, the office "gadget girl", a horesback rider, a cancer survivor, an incessant researcher of whatever currently intrigues me, an ebayer, a great chocolate chip cookie baker, and an admitted homebody. I love to hang out with my husband, watch Dallas Cowboy games with him, have friends over (especially for LAN Parties), watch old sitcoms, home improvement shows, and John Wayne movies, play WoW, and work on projects around the house. I am stubborn, passionate, and have a great sense of humor. I love just about anything chocolate and believe that dessert, if available, should never be skipped.
My ultimate goal in life is to be a mirror of the Proverbs 31 woman. The only thing I really take issue with is the "rising early" part...mornings and I are not friends. But if that's what it takes to take care of my family, my home, and others, I will do it. No sacrifice is too great to be the best I can be at what God has for me.
So, that's who Superchikk is. Who are you?

Hello, Superchikk!
ReplyDeleteI am one proud Momma!
I love the word chick.. for me as a guy it has none of the negative connotations that many give it.. For me it is a generic term, but my favorite use of it is as a term of endearment when I call someone a “chick friend” I am honestly paying them homage, though many don’t think so..
ReplyDeleteWelcome to this strange world, Superchick and I am happy to call you a chick friend!
