I know exactly how you are feeling. It's really frustrating to watch your son run a high fever every single month for no apparent reason. We are hoping Silas "outgrew" his mystery illness. He hasn't had a high fever since December. Two years of high fever and countless tests and possible diagnosis was plenty though. Silas always had high inflammation markers but those lab tests were non specific(CRP and SED rate). The doctors would tell us that he had inflammation in his body but we don't know where. It was so frustrating. There are lots of periodic fever syndromes. Silas didn't really fit the clinical picture of any of them. He had the genetic testing done and had a gene change for FMF. We tried colchicine, sulfasalazine, and prednisone. Prednisone would stop the fever almost immediately. PFAAPA is the other fever syndrome. My heart goes out to your family. We learned a lot and I read everything I could find and we visited more doctors than I ever wanted to see. I pray you guys don't have to do the same. I will keep praying for your son.
